
Many workers, especially office and factory workers have experienced numbness, pain and tingling in the hands while at work. Sometimes this condition can worsen, resulting in sharp pain and a burning sensation in the hand, wrist and arm. The cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful condition that usually results in the realization of a repetitive motion over a long period of time. The repetitive motion puts pressure on a nerve that passes through the wrist, causing pain and discomfort. This syndrome became familiar to the general public in the 1990s due to rapid growth in office jobs and therefore a higher frequency of pain in office workers reporting carpal tunnel.
